Trading perps on XATA
Perpetual futures, or perps, allow you to speculate on the price of crypto assets without owning them directly. Unlike traditional futures, perps have no expiry.
You can hold a position indefinitely, as long as you maintain sufficient margin.
Perpetual trading enables you to either:
- Go long if you think the price of an asset will rise
- Go short if you think it will fall
Perps trading lets you trade with up to 40x leverage, where you can amplify your exposure and trade larger positions with less capital.
Prices are kept in line with the spot market through a funding rate mechanism, where traders periodically pay or receive funding based on market conditions.
XATA is an onchain perps platform that connects to high-performance orderbooks across multiple supported exchanges, where all trades are fully onchain and settled in USDC.
